- One Thing You Should Be Doing Right Now For Your Retirement
Could buying stocks, exchange traded funds (ETFs) and other securities be the answer to recoup losses of 2008?
This downturn could be longer than anyone thinks, or we could begin recovering next week. But there’s something every investor can do while they wait: save.
Historically, in a down market an investor could hold securities, ride out the wave and wait until the next bull market to come around and be okay. But this time around, it’s different. The S&P 500 has lost more … [visit site to read more]

Переслать - Learning From Mistakes: The Short Sale Ban
The verdict is in. There is growing recognition that last September’s ban on short selling in certain financial stocks was a mistake.
Most of the professional trading and investment community do not see short selling, per se, as a problem. There are several debatable issues: the uptick rule, credit default swaps, and mark-to-market accounting for assets intended as long-term holdings. Short sales were not controversial among professionals.

Did the Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997 play a significant role in the bursting of the U.S. housing bubble and the struggles of the exchange traded funds (ETFs) that track the sector?

More specifically, it exempted the first $500,000 (for married taxpayers) and $250,000 (for single taxpayers) of gain from any home sales from capital gains taxes. Everybody seems to have the same question for me lately: What’s the deal with gasoline prices?
